Washington Commanders 2023 Off-Season Simulation

The 2023 NFL Off-Season Simulation is finally coming to a close. After multiple months of trade talks among the other two-hundred or so people involved and negotiations with designated agents in free agency, the 90-man-rosters are now complete. I was once again the General Manager for the Washington Commanders this year, and decided to take this opportunity to see what it would be like to build around Sam Howell. Having a 2023 cap number of $960,400 allows the franchise to pay out some big contracts for at least the next three years assuming Howell works out. That said, nearly all of the external free agent contracts were one-year deals to hedge Sam Howell's promotion to starter. It is his job to lose, so all of our moves revolved around getting the best talent around him as humanly possible. So without further ado, let's jump right into it. 2023 NFL Draft: Defensive Tackle Rankings

This year’s interior defensive tackle class was supposed to be elite heading into the 2022 season. Jalen Carter and Bryan Bresee were both surefire top 10 picks. Siaki Ika was even considered a first rounder by many at the time. Unfortunately, only Carter has lived up to expectations. Despite some underperformers, there were other prospects who have since catapulted themselves up draft boards. Calijah Kancey is a top 15 player for many analysts. Adetomiwa Adebawore is now getting first round buzz after the combine, and Bresee is starting to rise once again in mocks after many analysts had him falling out of the first round. While the undersized, twitched up interior prospects of Kancey and Adebawore are exciting, it is time to come back to reality after an electric combine. They certainly will be drafted within the first couple of rounds, but tempering expectations and going back to the film is necessary before making final decisions on these prospects. There are seven defensiv

2023 NFL Draft: Adetomiwa Adebawore - Northwestern Defensive Tackle

Adetomiwa Adebawore  - Northwestern Strengths: 1.  Contact from 3-Tech  -  His release on the inside seems quicker with more linear power where his initial contact is lower and more sudden. Perhaps it is because he knows that driving forward is his only option, as opposed to the edge where he will attempt speed rushes too often for his skill set. His strength and quickness when coming off of the line from the interior yields more success than when he comes from the edge in both the run and the passing game. 2.  Release  -  There are occasionally reps where he is delayed getting off of the line, but he is among the best in the game when he is dialed in. Many times throughout his tape, he is driving forward before any other linemen on either side have really moved. He also has good pad level into contact on the majority of plays, although he is not immune to getting stood up or having the occasional upright rep. His timing and suddenness should give him an advantage on the line at the ne
