2022 NFL Draft: Wide Receiver Deep Dive - Skyy Moore

Image
Skyy Moore - Western Michigan Overview: Strengths: 1.  Quick Slants - Moore shoots like a cannon off of his first step after stuttering. This allows him to always have position, if not a full step on the defender when in press. He also hangs onto the ball well in traffic and can take big shots immediately after making the reception without dropping the pass. Any slant can be taken to the house. 2. Burst - His single step acceleration is incredible. He can cover a lot of ground from one step in any direction. 3.  Run After Catch - He led the league in missed tackles forced in 2021 among wide receivers. Lower body strength, elusiveness, and physicality allow him to make the most of every touch. Weaknesses: 1.  Selling False Routes - For someone with such quick feet and great first step acceleration, Moore does not get as much separation as he should. His body language and stutters rarely rotate the defender's hips, who can then pivot rather quickly from ...

2022 NFL Off-Season Simulation: Washington Commanders

Full Spreadsheet Summary: Here is a link to the Google Sheet with our roster, contract break downs, draft strategies, and information on all drafted rookies: Objective: The primary goal of the off-season is to build a team that can compete now. With rookie contracts on seven of our starters in Chase Young, Montez Sweat, Terry McLaurin, Antonio Gibson, Kamren Curl, Sam Cosmi, and Jamin Davis, now seems like a good time to compete in an overall weaker division. The game plan for building this team consists of five steps: 1.        Trade for an established quarterback. 2.        Fill defensive holes. 3.        Bolster receiving core. 4.        Add reputable depth pieces for when injuries hit. 5.        Have a full starting roster before entering the draft. Beginning the off-season: Trade 1: The number one goal is to ...

2022 NFL Draft: Wide Receiver Deep Dive - Christian Watson

Image
Christian Watson - North Dakota State Overview: Strengths: 1.  Size - 6'5 and physical. Watson has the build of a prototypical X wide receiver. 2. Deep Route Adjustments - Adjusts deeper routes well to make up for poorly thrown balls. Deep separation is not spectacular, but he will make the most out of a situation once the ball is in the air . 3.  Blocking - Very wiling to block. If he is taught better technique at the next level, he could become a very successful blocking receiver. He had an impressive block at the Senior Bowl that turned heads, and this can be seen throughout his tape as well. Weaknesses: 1.  Acceleration - Acceleration off of the line and on acute route breaks is poor. This is an area that needs to be improved if he ever is going to become a dominant receiver in the NFL. 2. Separation - Consistent separation at all levels is lacking. His body language when selling false routes is fantastic, but his lack of abrupt ac...
